Photo Day Prep List
OVERALL
- Please remember this is a scheduled appointment time.
- For the interior portion of the shoot, we kindly request that no one be present inside the home.
- You have the option to meet us and let us inside, or provide access through a hidden key, garage code, or lockbox.
- Please do not have pets, food bowls, beds, etc. in view for the photoshoot.
- To avoid conflicts, please refrain from scheduling contractors, cleaners, or other appointments at the same time as your photo session.
EXTERIOR
- Please mow and trim the lawn within a couple of days before the shoot.
- Please remove all vehicles from the driveway/yard and put your trash cans in the garage.
- Give your outdoor space a quick tidy up – straighten cushions, arrange chairs, and dust dirt or leaves off of your patio furniture. If you have a fire pit, add a few pieces of wood, and we will add a fire to the photos.
- Don’t worry about the weather! Cloudy days tend to provide ideal shooting conditions.
INTERIOR
- Open all curtains and leave blinds down but open. If you have room darkening shades, take them down.
- Turn off all fans to avoid any blurring or unwanted movements in the photos.
- Don’t turn on lights as we usually shoot with the lights off.
- Decluttering is key to great photos. Keep only the necessities and consider minimal decor. You can pack up the garage and closets as we typically don’t photograph them. If you need to, place extra clutter in a spare bedroom.
KITCHEN
- For a clean, uncluttered look, remove most items from your countertops.
- Straighten up the chairs and hide trash cans.
- If you have hardwood or laminate flooring, sweep and mop before the shoot as dust will show up in the photos. For ceramic or vinyl flooring, this step is not as crucial.
- Clean the glass on your patio doors, as they show dirt when photographed at certain times of day.
- Remove rugs and mats.
LIVING AREAS
- Vacuum carpeted areas.
- Tidy up or hide any toys.
BEDROOMS
- Make beds neatly and remove any extra pillows or blankets.
- Keep items under the bed toward the center so they don’t show on camera.
- Vacuum carpets.
BATHROOMS
- Clean mirrors well. They tend to show dirt and smudges in the photos.
- Remove rugs and bath mats for a cleaner look.
- Clean shower doors to the best of your ability. If you can see shampoo bottles or other items through the door, remove them.
- Clear countertops of all items except for a nice soap bottle or other minimal decorative item.
- CLOSE THE TOILET SEAT and remove plungers, trash cans, brushes and other items.
Congratulations, you’ve made it to the end of our tips for an amazing online showing! If you have any questions, just ask.
